Michigan City East Pier Light

The Michigan City East Pier Light was built in 1904 to replace what is now called the Old Michigan City Lighthouse. It is one of the few lighthouses on the east side of Lake Michigan that has a catwalk. It is currently the only operating lighthouse in Indiana.. The pier is a favorite spot for fishing. The Old Michigan City Lighthouse Museum is nearby and the beach and zoo are popular in season. Under the right conditions, it is sometimes possible to see the Chicago skyline from this location - a distance of about 60 miles!
