The drive to Point Betsie is a long and lonely one for me. It normally takes a good 3 and a half hours to get there from where I live. On a cold winter day, it seems even more remote. I spent some time getting pictures before the sun set that night. There were small waves washing up against the shore and the metal skirting that is set up around the lighthouse to help control erosion. After sunset, I decided to attach a neutral density filter to my lens, which helped stretch out the exposure time. This affects the appearance of the clouds and the water, which appear smoothed out after a few minutes. Unusual for this time of year, someone was actually in the building and had the lights on. Kind of welcoming for a cold night, isn’t it?
